I have had one to many conversations about how we live day to day not doing what we truly desire to do. I once believed that it may not really be possible to do so. But then, the best thing happened to me. I was let go from my previous job, and was able to fully integrate into the life that I dreamt about.
I have been involved in the fitness industry for 13 years. Having studied Wellness & Fitness in college, and teaching group exercise since then, it has always been a part of my life. Through the successful positions held in health care/pharma sales, through the calibrating years in the real estate industry at a company’s corporate office, I always returned to my passion whether it was a 6AM cycle, or an evening bootcamp.
I described this former lifestyle as a work-hard, feel validated by making a decent salary with benefits, and still have what I loved to do kind of structure. I was fortunate to be able to do so. But was I really happy? The change I experienced opened my eyes even more to answer that question, and steered me in the direction of accomplishing new lifestyle goals.
the bar method, A hands down amazing workout, was a certification I had wanted for almost three years before we got a studio here in Austin. It integrates the fat burning format of interval training, the muscle shaping technique of isometrics, the elongating principles of dance conditioning, and the science of physical therapy to create a revolutionary new workout that quickly and safely reshapes your entire body. I was able to take my training to the next level with the time I had, and recieve my certification. This was a vision come true. I love my studio, I love my clients, I love this workout.
I also love lululemon. lululemon is a made up word and a company that makes athletic gear for yoga, running and other sweaty pursuits. It is a company that is dedicated to developing it’s people and helping the community live long, healthy, happy and fun lives. Check out their manifesto to get a glimpse of the mindset of the culture. I am an Educator, working on the frontlines with the guests day to day. I couldn’t ask for a better opporutnity to work with the community and continue to promote healthy lifestyles and fitness goals of our active Austinites!
Yesterday, I was driving from the studio, to the store, and I thought that as the sun shined through the windows, I was here, in MY LIFE. I reflected on how I may have wanted to make the decision to create big change, but it doesn’t always work that way. As humans, we struggle with fear and control factors. I rely on my faith, and as I did so to seek clarity and direction this change manifested. It was, and is still scary at times, but continuing to let go and believe in my dream and passion has made this no longer a possiblity, but real. I also have amazing people in my life who support me and believe in me, and could not have done this without them.
I am grateful that this is MY LIFE.
